A lot of people do not train their legs when it comes to hitting the weights in the gym. Particularly among guys.
In this article, I will explain why you should never miss leg day and list the best leg workouts for mass gain.
So If you want your legs to be in proportion with the rest of your body you need to give your lower body as much attention to your upper body.
It’s Quite ironic how lot I find the vast majority of guys that ignore the legs are the exact kind of guys that should be training their legs.
A lot of guys fall into that mentality where they just want to focus on building their upper body, because they think, “why bother when the legs are covered up most of the time”?
So when guys go to the gym to train chest, biceps, shoulders and legs and something comes up, they will usually skip legs and do all the other exercises instead.
This is because when they look at themselves in the mirror their upper body is the first thing they see that makes them look better. They just want to focus on getting bigger and stronger, but when they skip legs they are missing on so much more.
It can be embarrassing especially when you have a great upper body but your legs look skinny in comparison. In my opinion, no matter how pumped or ripped you are, if your legs aren’t in proportion with the rest of your body, it will only make you look ridiculous.
Another reason guys skip leg training is because they think that women don’t care about how their legs look, it’s their upper body they are most interest in!
So you workout just to get attention from women, is it?
C’mon guys, I know it can be difficult to train legs, and some of you think it takes a lot of effort to get your legs looking as good as your upper body.
Well, just say training legs is just as much important as training your upper body. You don’t want people calling you “Chicken Legs” the next time you take a trip to the beach in those funky beach shorts.
The Price you pay for having skinny legs
I’ve been called “Chicken Leg” myself all because I was too lazy to train my calve muscles.
I know a lot of guys that train every other body part except their legs. It’s pretty common.
The truth if they’d just train their legs they’d get even better results in their upper body too. Squats aren’t enough though!
Guys who think squats is all that is needed to build strength and muscle in both legs are fooling themselves.
Here’s why…
For instance I squatted for years had good hamstrings and quads, but my calves were too skinny, so they christened me “Chicken Legs” until I went to work hardcore on them at the gym
So please guys, save yourself the embarrassment and work those entire leg muscles without depending on squats alone.
Trust me squatting is not enough to hit every muscle group in your lower body.
You need to train your calve muscles separately, calve raises been the main exercise.
Reason To Never Miss Leg Day Again!
- Squats burn more calories per rep than almost any other move
- Increase in size and strength
Your Anatomy for Building Bigger and Better Legs
There are four main leg muscles that you need to train each week consistently.
- Glutes (Your butt)
- Hamstrings (back of upper leg)
- Calves (back of lower leg)
- Quads (front of upper leg)
Your legs are the largest muscles in your body, so make sure to train them. Once or twice a week is enough.
